Confederate Civil War veteran, who served with the 15th (Hawkins') Battalion Mississippi Sharpshooters. On October 24th 1863 near Huntsville, Alabama he was captured & sent to Camp Morton, Indiana, where he was held prisoner for about a year & a half.
Jacob moved his family from Tennessee to Texas in the early 1870's & about 1875 he purchased land in Brown County near the present day Staley Cemetery.
