Johnnie Bema Wilson, 82, of Irisburg, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born in Eden, N.C. on February 5, 1934 to the late William Tyler and Lottie Martin Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ray Wilson, and an infant brother, Charles Tyler Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Iris Rosie Lewis Wilson. In addition, he is survived by his daughter, Karen Wilson Parrish and husband Lewis Michael Parrish of Melbourne, Fla., daughter, Linda Wilson Cox and husband James Franklin Cox Jr. of Irisburg; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Edwards Wilson of Irisburg. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Benjamin Parrish and wife Jennifer of Fla., Jordan Parrish of Fla., James Cox III and wife Ashley of Irisburg, Katelyn Peters and husband Benjamin of Ridgeway, Lindsey Puckett and husband Kyle of Stuart, Emily Wilson and Zachary Wilson, both of Irisburg. He also treasured his five great-grandchildren,m Bernadette Parrish, Lila Cox, Caleb and Luke Peters and Korbin Puckett.

Mr. Wilson proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the City of Martinsville Water Department and later worked at Compton Wood Products. He was a member of Irisburg United Methodist Church and happily shared his faith and love for Christ with others. He enjoyed visiting neighbors and friends in the community, going to flea markets and was always in search of a good bargain. Mr. Wilson was also a former member of the Irisburg Ruritan Club.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Norris Funeral Services, with the Rev. Anne Sisson officiating. The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home, 2722 Barker Road, Axton, Va. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville, Va. Military rights will be done by the Martinsville and Henry County Honor Guard.
