BUFFALO - Iona Trent Alverson, 82, of 506 Drug Store St. died June 26, 1999, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

A native of Buffalo, she was the widow of Thomas J. Alverson III and daughter of the late William Jesse Trent and Alice Mae Stepp Trent.

She was a member of the Buffalo United Methodist Church and a graduate of Union High School. She was a former member of the Union County Democratic Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Mullis of Union and Alice Alverson of Buffalo; two sons, A.R. "Randy" Greer of Union and Thomas J. Alverson IV of Buffalo; two sisters, Cora Farr of Whitmire and Marjorie Trent of Union; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Buffalo United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Jim Covington and Wesley Farr. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John Mullis Jr., 102 Bermuda Road, Union.
