George Pritchard Morrow, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2016, at his residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Morrow and Easter McFalls Morrow. He is also preceded in death by his sisters: Helen Morrow and Lois Ollis; brother, Thomas Morrow and an infant brother.

Mr. Morrow retired from the US Navy after serving 24 years, during that time serving in 3 wars: WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He later retired as the Powerhouse Superintendent from Jefferson-Smurffit Paper Mill after 17 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Jean Grant Morrow of the home; daughters: Lynne Morrow of St. Augustine, FL, and Ellen Allbritton and husband Dennis of Fairview; son, Richard Morrow and wife Carol of Jacksonville, FL; sisters: Laura Allison and husband Noel of Buchanan, VA, and Carol Barnett and husband Dillon of Danville, VA; brothers: David Morrow and wife Debbie of Indianapolis, IN, Paul Morrow and wife Barbara of Buchanan, VA, and Harry Morrow and wife Ellen of Buchanan, VA; grandchildren: Geoff Williams, Travis Williams, Jenna Jennings, Luke Allbritton, and Jason Morrow; 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Royal officiating. Military graveside rites to follow at Cane Creek Cemetery, Fairview.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
