Edward G. Boal, Sr., 75, passed away on March 12, 2008.
Born in McKees-port, Pa., Mr. Boal had lived most of his life in the Akron area. A retired Letter Carrier with 44 years of service with the Akron Post Office, he was Past President of the National Letter Carriers #148, and had also served on the Tri County Labor Council of the AFL-CIO. Following his retirement, he began working for Colonial Florists. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a member of the Summit Co. Umpires Assoc. and had refereed baseball, basketball, and volley ball. He was also a CYO football coach and was a GABF Baseball Coach. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict and was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
His survivors include wife of 49 years, Gerry (nee Davis); son, Ed, Jr.; brothers, John (Georgia), James (Debbie); brother-in-law, Vince (Shirley) Colant; numerous nieces and nephews; close friends, Jim and Nancy Durkin; and his golfing buddies. His parents, Christopher C. and Margaret (Hughes) Boal; sisters, Elizabeth Colant and Donna Boal; and brother, Christopher Boal all preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
