Mrs. Barnes was the daughter of the late Rev. J.W. Jennings (Ginnings)and Laura Moore Jennings. She spent the early part of her life in DeKalb County, Alabama, moving to Rome, Georgia in 1930 and resided there until the summer of 1956, when she moved to Santa Monica, California.
She was survived by a son, Ernest H. Barnes, U.S. Navy, stationed in Jacksonville, Florida; four daughters, Bonnie Mallett, Rome, Georgia; Mrs. Bertha McClung, Steele, Alabama; Mrs. Violette Arthur, Santa Monica, California; and Mrs. Gladys Brown, Ocean Park, California; 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
