Purchased land in Section 4 of Shelby Township, Michigan on 20 Oct 1824 and soon thereafter moved his family from Genesee County, New York to Shelby Township. Rev. Abel Warren was a M.E. Minister and was the first man licensed to preach in the Territory of Michigan. He was a pioneer Circuit Rider Preacher, and traveled on foot at times twenty miles or more on the Sabbath to preach throughout the Macomb County area.
