Death takes P N Beach At age 109

A 109 year old Muscogee County man believed to be the county's oldest resident died yesterday.

Phillip N Beach 4711 11th Ave a retired carpenter, died at 9:30 am yesterday following a illness of several years.

Mr Beach and his wife the late Froney Bell Beach who died seven years ago at the age of 90, were the parents of 17 children. Nine are living.

He worked actively as a carpenter until he retired 29 years ago at the age of 80.

Born in Rossville Ga on Dec 14 1848, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Nancy Beach.

He moved to Columbus 40 years ago from Atlanta.

Survivors include four sons, Odia Beach, Prather Beach and Joe Beach , all of Columbus and Russell Beach, Macon, Susie Orr, Lula Whitten, Hazel Croman , Mrs Cecil Litaker , all of Columbus, and Mrs Edith Coppage, Troy Ala, 38 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2pm tomorrow at Antioch Baptist Church on 12 th Ave.

The Rev Nelson J Weatherby pastor will be in charge.

Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery.

Grandsons will be ballbearers

The body was taken to the home today by Britton and Dobbs Funeral Home..

Pratt, who died Thursday at her home, 109 Twenty-fifth street, will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the North Highlands Methodist church. Rev. W. E. Carter, pastor of the North Highlands Methodist church will officiate, assisted by Rev. A. J. Cone, pastor of the North Highlands Baptist church.

Robert Cash and Mrs. Lillie Bowden Lewis will sing "When They Ring Those Golden Bells," and "Where We'll Never Grow Old." Flower girls will be Miss Mary Allen and Miss Alma McCuffy.

The following have been requested to served as pallbearers: Mrs. Ruby Bailey, Mrs. Ruby Brown, Mrs. Inez Pike, Mrs. Inez Barksdale, Mrs. Elizabeth Lovet, and Mrs. Hattie Sheldon. Interment will be in Girard cemetery.

Russell H Beach 76 of 3148 Georgia Place was found dead about 6 am Tuesday in a wooded area near his home after apparently suffering a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday in West Lawn Baptist Church. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park.
Pall bearers will be Eddie Bryant, Charles Elkins, Mike Bryant, Mike Scott, W.C. Harris, Theo Prince.
City Detectives said Mr Beach, a retired carpenter, had suffered previous attacks and had been walking in the woods with his dog and pony when he was stricken.
A native of Cobb County, Mr Beach had lived most of his life here.
He was a member of West lawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow Mrs Lucy Bell Duke Beach.
Five sons, Albert Beach of Eatonton, George Beach, Frankie Owen Beach and Orady Beach all of Macon and Cary Beach of Sn Diego Ca.
Four Daughters, Mrs Patricia Turner of Ft Bragg NC and Ruth Bryant and Mrs Beth Turner both of Warren Robins and Mrs Star Scott of Atlanta
