The only son of the late William Reese "Willy" Anderson, who passed just 3 years ago, and Hazel E. Craigmiles Anderson, who survives. He was a 1936 graduate of Portsmouth High School where he was also a member of the band. He was discharged from the Air Force on March 23, 1950. He served 5 years in The U.S. Army Band in Charleston, WV, and in The 37th Ohio Division Artillery Band. He later enlisted in The U.S. Air Force and served 3 1/2 years in Germany, as a cost accountant on the air base in Furstenfeldbruck. After his discharge, he enrolled in Portsmouth Business College this past June, but ill health caused him to withdraw.
