Eugene Edward Blystone, 86, of Southern Pines, peacefully joined his family in heaven Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013. Gene was born July 22, 1927, in Cambridge Springs, PA, to the late Blanch Dundon and Bernard Blystone. He attended Swarthmore College and graduated from Gannon University and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was affiliated with various companies and retired as a vice president of Emerson Electric to the Landings Club, Savannah, GA, with his beloved wife of 55 years, Dolores. Upon her death in 2002, Gene moved to Southern Pines to join the community of Belle Meade. He enjoyed golf, croquet, being a Scroll Society member of the Foundation of FirstHealth, being a member of the Catholic community of Belle Meade, and the friendship of many in the community, especially the special friendship of Emilie McCormick.
Being predeceased by his parents, his wife, Dolores, and his brother, Frances, he is survived by his sister June Lewis; his children Carolyn (Joe) Ragone, John (Julie)Blystone, Judy (Greg) Black, Bill (Jeanne Marie) Blystone and Larry (Rhonda) Blystone; his grandchildren Chris Ragone, Jenny Ragone Oborne, Ellen Blystone Trandel, Keith Blystone, Nicholas Black, Lindsey Black Babcock, Alexia Black, William Blystone II, Mark Blystone, John Blystone and Kimberly Blystone. He is also survived by four great grandchildren. Gene was most proud of his family and they brought him great joy. Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines is assisting the family.
