"Funeral services for James Melchior Long, who died yesterday, will be conducted today at 3:30 p.m. from Diuguid Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery. / A retired pharmacist, he died at his home, 1701 Grace St., after a long illness. He was 72. The son of Robert Emmett and Margaret Bias Long, he was born at Oak Grove in Amherst County Aug. 18, 1882. / He was a member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church and before his retirement was associated with Massie & Long, pharmacists, and Rivermont Pharmacy. / Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Claire Burton Long; two sisters, Mrs. M.D. Turner and Miss Margaret C. Long, both of Lynchburg, and a brother, E.C. Long of Tampa, Fla."
