Albert retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1983 after 26 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of second lieutenant. Being an avid lover of golf, he served as a marshal captain for 30 years at the Colonial Golf Tournament. Albert was an active member of Riverside Assembly of God, which later became Christian Temple, where he served in multiple capacities.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita "Sugar" Melugin.
Survivors: Wife, Lorry Melugin; son, Monte and Maria Melugin; daughters, Lynda Melugin Calloway and April and Todd Davis; stepdaughter, Beverly and Tom Helsley; grandchildren, Christofer, Monte Albert, Matthew Jonathan and Gracie; and three great-grandchildren.
