Farene Bacon, 95, of Gatesville passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016 in Gatesville. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with burial following at 3:00 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Farene was born on May 10, 1920 in Izoro, Texas to the late Thomas and Hattie Manning Reaves. She graduated from Pearl High School in 1940 and owned and operated her own beauty shop in Cisco, Texas, where she met Bobby T. Bacon while he was home after being released from POW camp during WWII. They later married on June 22, 1946 in Cisco, Texas. She loved to garden and can her vegetables. When they retired, she enjoyed working on the ranch and raising all kinds of animals. Farene had a heart for animals that needed special care.

Farene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Claude Reaves; sisters, Edna Reaves, Clela Hampton, Lola Russell, Audie B. Rogers, and Gracey Williamson.

Farene is survived by her daughter, Jamie Sterling of Gatesville; two grandchildren, Spencer Sterling and Jessa Sterling; and many nieces and nephews.
