Herbert N. Appleby, 84, of Shirleysburg Road, Shirleysburg R.D. died Friday, June 24, 1966, at 9 p.m. in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.

Born in Neelyton on April 10, 1882, he was a son of James and Emily (Morrow) Appleby. He was united in marriage to Lottie Vaughn on March 20, 1904 at the home of the bride in Shade Valley. She preceded him in death September 14, 1964.

Surviving are the following children: Brady H. Appleby, Mrs. Fred (Mary) Everett and Mrs. Donald (Thelma) Hetrick, all of Huntingdon; Mrs. Clara Snyder, Camp Hill; Raymond J. Appleby, New Cumberland; Charles G. Appleby, Everett; and Joseph S. Appleby, Altoona. There are 12 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren surviving.

The deceased was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was a member of the Mount Nebo EUB Church and belonged to the men's Bible class of the church.

He was employed at North American Refractories in Mount Union, retiring in 1947. He had resided in the Shirleysburg area since 1910.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, at 2 p.m. from the Clark funeral home, Mount Union. The Rev. Theodore Bowers will officiate and interment will be made in Mount Nebo Cemetery, Shirley Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Sunday until the hour of the services on Monday.
