Life Legacy

William Thornton Umbarger, age 87, of Ceres, VA passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born in Bland Co., VA on August 10, 1928 the son of the late Paul and Cleo Umbarger. Thornton was a member of the Bethany Methodist Church in Ceres and was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Bearington.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Esther Repass Umbarger, his children, William Franklin Umbarger, Dora Ann Mutter, Roy Roger Umbarger; his favorite thing, his dog, Honey Bug; sisters, Geraldine Fields, Betty Helton; brother, Woodson Umbarger, Pudge Umbarger; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Sammy Shupe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
