Dave V. Smith was born September 10, 1907 in Vendor, the son of Samuel Clayborn and Susan "Sukey" Adeline Riddell Smith. He died Jan. 14, 2002 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison at the age of 94.

He was a lifelong resident of Newton County. He was Pentecostal. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Elmer, Darrell and Buster Smith; two infant daughters and an infant son; one infant granddaughter and one infant grandson; three sisters, Mary and Tilda Farmer and Susie Campbell; two brothers, John Henry and Martin Tackett Smith; a son-in-law, Charles F. Madewell and a daughter-in-law, Eveline Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Addie Martin Smith of the home; sons and daughters in-law, Zelmer Smith of Vendor, Lunie and Ellen Smith and Luell and Linda Smith of Pelsor, Robert and Connie Smith of Mt. Judea; a daughter, Imogene Madewell of Blue Springs, Mo.; three daughters-in-law, Arvilla Smith of Vendor, Rilda Smith of Piercetown and Donna Sue Smith of Mt. Judea; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 16 at Piercetown Holiness Church with Rev. Rex Middleton officiating. Burial was in Smith Cemetery at Vendor.

Pallbearers were Jackie Smith, Shawn Smith, Danny Smith, Rickey Smith, Scottie Smith and Randy Smith. Granddaughters were honorary pallbearers.
