Hilda Viola (Berg) Blunda, 87, a former resident of Portland, Maine, died here Saturday.
Born in Portland, a daughter of the late Algot and Olga Berg, she attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1925.
She was employed by several Portland insurance firms. After her retirement, she resided here with her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and C. Edwin Carlson.
Mrs. Blunda was a lifelong member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church in Portland, and was an associate member of Faith Lutheran Church here. She was also a member of the Historical Society of East Hartford.
Her husband, Vito Blunda, died previously.
Surviving are her daughter, Marie Blunda Carlson, and four grandchildren, Josef E. Carlson of Wolfeboro Falls, N.H., Peter E. Carlson of Rocky Hill, Conn., Kenneth F. Carlson of Boston and Christina M. Carlson of East Hartford and Boston. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. at Hay & Peabody, 749 Congress St., Portland, Maine. Burial will be in Forest City Cemetery, South Portland, Maine.
