Llano burial 08/03/1961

Graveside services for Joseph M. Ashley, 80, of Atascadero, Calif., will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery, with Paul McClung, minister of the Central Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Mr. Ashley, the father of three Amarillo residents, died Sunday in a hospital at Atascadero, where he had lived the past 15 years.

Surviving are seven daughters, 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held in the Llano Cemetery in Amarillo August3 at 2:00 p.m. for Joe Ashley. He was born April 21, 1883 and died July 30 in the Atascadro [sic], Calif., hospital. He was 78 years old.

He married Miss Nell Styron February 2, 1907 and he wa a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include the wife, 7 daughters, Mrs. Clistie Jones of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Jess Moore of Wheeler, Mrs. Dan Thornberry of Claude, Mrs. Jack Guynes of Borger, Mrs. James T. Green, Mrs. Gene Bates, and Mrs. Edith Smith, all of Amarillo. One brother Stroud Ashley of California, one sister, Mrs. Charles Brewer of Wichita Falls, 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and one son.
