Max Adolph Bovee, 72, of 3215 E. Seedling Mile Road died unexpectedly Sunday morning at a local hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The rev. John Rinde will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Bovee was born March 8, 1908, at Chapman, the son of Adolph and Anna Vehrs Bovee. After completing his education, he farmed in the Chapman area, later entering the livestock business. On June 11, 1949, he married Margaret Dibbern Luth in Grand Island. He purchased the Third City Livestock Commission Co. in 1956 and operated it until 1960. He was a livestock buyer until his health failed. In 1971 he retired. Mr. Bovee was a member of the congregation at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was affiliated with the Platt-Deutsche Society, the Liederkranz Society, the Saddle Club and Eagles Aerie No. 378, of which he was president in 1952.
Survivors include his widow; a step-daughter, Mrs. Allen (Connie) Bales of Grand Island; three sisters, Mrs. August Scheel of Ritzville, Wash., Mrs. Ella Winburn of Alhambra, Calif., and Mrs. Alva Cavander of Central City; a half-sister, Mrs. Arnold Meyer of Grand Island; three stepbrothers, Ed Baumeister of Central City, Gus Baumeister of Oceanside, Calif., and Herman Baum of Hemet, Calif., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, two stepsisters and a grandson.
