Hannah Wood was born 20 Oct 1827 in Coshocton Co, OH to Peter and Hannah Bradford Wood, the sixth of their 11 children. Hannah grew up in Coshocton Co, OH with her siblings on the family farm. It was there on 16 Feb 1847 she married Garrett Walen VanScoder. Eleven children were born to them, only five of whom survived to adulthood.

It was there on 5 Mar 1872 that Hannah departed this life with the birth of her eleventh child, Emma Wilhemina. It is difficult to imagine the sorrow she endured from losing six of her 11 children and to depart this life knowing she was leaving her last newborn behind.
