Army Pfc. Oremus was assigned to the 57th Military Police Company, 8th Military Police Brigade, Seoul, Korea. Oremus was killed after being shot by sniper fire while on a routine patrol with his squad. Michael was a 2002 graduate of Highland High School, and a member of the varsity soccer and tennis teams. After graduation, he attended Dutchess Community College and was a member of the soccer team. He joined the Army in February 2005 and was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in July 2006 on a one-year deployment. Michael wasn't a big guy but he never backed down from anybody. He is remembered as a hard worker.
