On Saturday morning, January 8, Wm. Engelman passed away after an illness of about four weeks, at the age of about 54 years.
The life of Mr. Engelman has been a sad one. Born demented, his life had none of those pleasures and ambitions which go to the lot of the average man. He was a constant care to those who had charge of him and when by an unlucky accident about twelve years ago he lost his sight, the care was increased many folds for his relatives.
For several weeks past he had been seriously ill most of the time, but was at no time considered dangerous. During all this time his strength was slowly leaving him and on last Saturday morning at an early hour the end came which closed a life which shared too few of the worlds blessings and pleasures.
Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of Dan Ast, which had been the home of the deceased for several years, by Rev. Mercer, assisted by a number of members of the choir. The remains were interred in the Walnut cemetery.
