Mrs. Florence Hewitt, 87, died Friday night at Monmouth Hospital, where she had been a patient since Sept. 7.
Mrs. Hewitt was born Dec. 1, 1871 in England and came to the USA at the age of 15 and resided in Burlington, Iowa. Later, she and a sister moved to Monmouth, where they worked as seamstresses.
Mrs. Hewitt was married to Thomas Hewitt in 1896 at Monmouth. She was a member of Grace United Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Woman's Assn. of that church.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Acuff; and a sister, Eva Court of Burlington.
Funeral services will be held Monday at the Turnbull Funeral Home. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery.
