Eunice was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Summerfield, Ill., the daughter of Walter E. Appel and wife Anna, nee Dillon. After meeting in Chicago, she and Marion Coleman were united in marriage Sept. 6, 1942, in St. Louis. They were married for 54 years. Eunice graduated from Trenton High School, Trenton, Ill.; Saint Mary's College, O'Fallon; and Lindenwood College, St. Charles, in 1980 at age 57. Her working career included several World War II support jobs, most notably the atomic bomb project in Hanford, Wash., and jobs in Warrenton at Commerce Bank, Binkley Company and General Cable, and at Bussman Fuse, Chesterfield.
She was a 60-year resident of Warrenton and spent the last 11 years in Tulsa, Okla.
Eunice is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Haymes and husband Bob, Lebanon, Mo.; one son, Ron Coleman and wife Jan, Tulsa, Okla.; four granddaughters, Jena Simpson and husband Lester, Kim Scudder and husband Jerry, Amy Carey and husband Crosman, and Niki Churchwell; one grandson, Richard Haymes and wife Jamie; five great-grandchildren, Cole Baker, Brooks and Lily Carey, Jordan Haymes and Jasmine Spargo; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion, in 1996; parents; one brother, Walter W. Appel; and one sister, Edith Widicus.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Warrenton City Cemetery.
The family is being served by Stanleys Funeral and Cremation Service, Tulsa, Okla.
