William "Bill" Clark Rowe, CPA, 71, passed away in Fallbrook, Calif. on Nov. 2, 2011 following a battle with cancer. Bill was born in Plymouth, Indiana on Sept. 14, 1940. He was the son of Beuford Rowe and Olive (Young) Rowe and grew up on the family farm near Bremen, Indiana. Bill attended St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School and was a 1958 graduate of Bremen High School. On Aug. 6, 1960, Bill was married to Gloria Fowler of Huntingburg, Indiana; she survives.

The young couple and their 2-year-old daughter moved to Southern California in 1963. Both worked while Bill attended Chaffey Jr. College and California State Polytechnic University – Pomona where he received his Bachelor's degree in accounting. Bill earned his CPA license while working for the public accounting firm of Arthur Anderson & Company. Three years later, Bill was able to combine his knowledge of agriculture and his accounting expertise by working as Controller for American Garden Products. He became Vice President of Finance for Amfac Incorporated's Nursery Division in 1983.

In 1986, he moved his family to Fallbrook to become President of Rainbow Nurseries. Bill finished his career as an Independent Financial Consultant and was well known in the nursery industry as a leading expert. Growers and financial institutions nation-wide sought his advice and guidance. While Bill's professional legacy was outstanding, he was most proud of being a loving and caring family man and a loyal and true friend. He will be remembered as a man of integrity and compassion.

Survivors include daughter Debra Henkel (Mike) of Cotati, Calif.; son Marc Rowe (Cassie) of Bozeman, Mont.; grandchildren Lilianna and Dashiel Henkel; mother Olive Rowe of Corcoran, Calif.; sister Linda Lisk (James) of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother Curt Rowe (Shannon) of Corcoran, Calif. Four nieces and six nephews also survive him.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Beuford Rowe and brother John Rowe.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Feb. 25, 2012 at the Fellowship Hall of Zion Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran School, 1405 E. Fallbrook St., Fallbrook, CA 92028 or the Moores Cancer Center, 3855 Science Dr., La Jolla, CA 92093.
