My Lifestory
Eugene "Gene" R. Kelsey, 67, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born December 16, 1948 in Hutchinson, the son of Merle and Violetta Dean Kelsey. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School and had attended Hutchinson Junior College.

He was a longtime Hutchinson resident, having lived in Ottawa for the past 20 years. He formerly was the Circulation Manager for the Hutchinson News and the Ottawa Herald. He was currently employed for American Eagle Outfitters, Ottawa. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 612, he attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. He was also a charter member of the former Hutchinson Breakfast Optimist Club.

He married Rose Schreiber on October 10, 1970 in Hutchinson, she survives. Other survivors include his children; Stacy Kelsey, Ottawa, Bradley Kelsey and wife Amanda, Prairie Village, Aaron Kelsey and wife Katrina Singer, Fallbrook, CA, five brothers; Lloyd Kelsey, South Hutchinson, Dwayne Kelsey, Rochester Hills, MI, Don Kelsey, Hutchinson, Richard Kelsey, Kimberling City, MO, Bob Kelsey, Burrton, his mother, Violetta Elstun, South Hutchinson, two half-brothers; Danny Kelsey, Dickenson, TX, Jim Kelsey, Hutchinson, a half-sister, Cindi Woodworth, Crown Point, IN, step-sister, Suzie Morgan, Hutchinson, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father and a step-father, Bill Elstun.

Parish Rosary will be 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 17 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, with Mass of Christian Burial to be held, 10:00 AM, Friday March 18, also at the church. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Wednesday and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Thursday at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be given to Hospice House or Franklin County Cancer Foundation in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS, 67502.
