2014 obituary. SCARBOROUGH - Johnny Sampietro passed away on Jan. 26, 2014, at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, following a brief illness. He lived at Harbor Terrace on Danforth Street, where staff and others remember him as a wonderful and friendly resident. He was born in Portland on April 3, 1952, twin of Daniel. He grew up on Munjoy Hill where he attended local schools. He worked in the construction industry until his retirement. He enjoyed the simple things in life, most of all his dear friends and family. He would laugh as he remembered and told stories of the many family get-togethers and how his family emigrated from Italy, proudly bringing their Italian heritage and passing it on to their children and grandchildren. Recently, he was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and as a child at St. Peter's Catholic Church. His nephew was his closest family support. He always made sure his uncle was taken care of. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter (Pietro) and Connie (Concetta Acito) Sampietro; and brothers, Daniel and Peter Sampietro. A celebration of John's life will take place in the springtime, following his burial at Calvary Cemetery.
