Julia Frances Eskina Ellison was born on January 25, 1930 to Anthony and Marie Lagodinsky Eskina in a farm home at Pulskifield Missouri. She was the fourth of 10 children.

She departed this life March 16, 2016 at her home in Howards Ridge MO. Julia married Louis Boyd Ellison on May 15, 1954. To them six children were born; two boys and four girls.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 59 years, Boyd, her parents, two brothers Leo and Ben, and two sisters, Betty Spehar and Jean Watskey.

Julia leaves behind children Linda Hannaford /Alva of Howards Ridge, Mark Ellison/ Shanna of Howards Ridge, Ron Ellison/Lisa Howards Ridge, Jan Hall/Doyle of Yellville AR, Sue Seiler/Jake of Cape Fair and Sharon Seay/Kevin of Kirbyville, 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. As well as sister Florence Smarker of KCK, brother Ray Eskina/Dolly for KCK, sister Wilma Plake for Tonganoxie KS, brother Frank Eskina/Josephine of KCK and Joan Seck/ Mike of Kearney MO.

Julia's love for her family was as strong as the roots of a tree. Leaving behind the family and friends in Kansas City in 1969, Boyd and Julia moved to the family farm in a very rural life in the Liner Creek area. They both were committed to a Godly home, attending church with their six children every Sunday in Gainesville at St. Williams Catholic Church.
Raising six children, becoming involved in the community and setting up a legacy for the next generations filled her life. Huge gardens, filling freezers, and shopping were a big part of her life. Her strength of family is evident in gatherings she enjoyed such as the family camping trips, Christmas gatherings, sister trips and mother daughter trips. Her love of cooking for them was always enjoyed. A cobbler, cake and cookies were always expected any time you visited her kitchen, and she never failed to produce. (Even if it meant digging it out of the freezer). Boyd and Julia loved to travel, visiting every state but two, Washington and Hawaii. Sometimes they would sneak away for an adventure, never telling their children, until they returned. Julie and Boyd fished, gardened, traveled, fussed and volunteered together in many organizations in the community. Both served with the Lick Creek VFD in different ways as well as faithfully attending church in Gainesville at St. Williams and St. Peters in Mt. Home AR. Julie also volunteered at the Ozark County Senior Center and was a polling clerk during elections. She quilted with the women at the Lick Creek VFD and the Senior Center as well throughout the years. She was known in her family for beautiful quilts for a wedding or baby gift for each of the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

But the legacy we will remember her for most is family. Her quiet feistiness was something her grandchildren love to mimic and it was a big deal to finally get as tall as Grandma Julie! She had to ensure her home was always warm, making sure the fire was always burning, even when no one else thought so!

Services for Julia are as follows: A Vigil Service will be at 5 p.m. and Visitation from 6-8 p.m. on March 17 at the Roller Funeral Home in Mt. Home Arkansas.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter The Fisherman Catholic Church in Mt. Home on Friday March 18 at 11:00 a.m with Reverend Norbert Rappold, Celebrant.

Interment will follow immediately in the Howards Ridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Hannaford, Michael Ellison, Travis Ellison, Jerry Hall, Brandon Ellison, Ben Seiler, Daniel Seiler, Lee Ellison, Jonathon Seay and Mathew Seay.
