Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Louisa Fox, who claimed to be a second cousin and a step-niece of Abraham Lincoln, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at an undertaking establishment at 4413 Washington Boulevard. Burial will be in Valhalla Cemetery.

Mrs. Fox, who was 91 years old, died yesterday at the home of her son, Alfred N. Fox, 8755 Natural Bridge Road, Carsonville, St. Louis County. She had been ill for the past two months, suffering from pneumonia and infirmities of old age.

Besides her son, Mrs. Fox is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Walton, 4721 Washington Boulevard; Mrs. Hattie Fuller, 4011 West Pine Boulevard; and Mrs. Belle Kanney, Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. Amanda Brown, Los Angeles.

Mrs. Fox often told her children that she lived at one time in a log cabin which Abraham Lincoln had erected near Farmington, Ill., and that Lincoln often visited her there.

Mrs. Fox said her mother was a step-sister of Lincoln, while her father, Squire Reuben Hall, was Lincoln's first cousin."

Mrs. Sarah Louisa Fox, 91, Dies at Home in Carsonville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Louisa Fox, a second cousin and step-niece of Abraham Lincoln, who died Monday at the home of her son, Alfred N. Fox, 8755 Natural Bridge Road, Carsonville, will be conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Harrigan & Sheahan undertaking establishment, 4413 Washington Boulevard, with burial following in Valhalla Cemetery. She was 91 years old.

Her father, Squire Hall, was a nephew of Lincoln's mother, the former Nancy Hanks, and her mother was a daughter of Sarah Johnston Lincoln, stepmother of the Emancipator.

Mrs. Fox, the widow of Merrill Fox, who died about fifty years ago, used to refer to her famous cousin as "Uncle Abe," telling how he attended her wedding shortly before being elected president, how he wrote to her frequently from the White House, and how she rode in a carriage with him when he returned to Illinois from Washington and visited the grave of his father in Shiloh Cemetery, near Farrington, Ill.

Daughter of Squire Hall and Matilda Johnston. Her siblings were :
John, Nancy, Elizabeth, Alfred, Amanda and Joseph.
In 1850 the family was living in Cottonwood, Cumberland County, Illinois. By 1851, the family moved to Coles County, Illinois where her father died on October 5th of that year. June 19 1856, her mother married Reuben Moore. (His first wife was Mary Brandenburg Dungan, who died August 24, 1855, Coles County, Illinois). He later died June 22, 1859 at the age of 62.
Sarah Louisa Hall married Merrill Fox August 30, 1860 Coles County, Illinois .
