Carl Luther “Lute” Armentrout, 81, of Keezletown, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at his home.

He was born January 1, 1935, in Keezletown and was the son of the late, Wade Lee and Ora Boyers Armentrout. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Lute worked many years as a carpenter for Nielsen Builders and Stone and Webster Construction, he then went on to work for Valley Blox where he retired in 2000. In his retirement, he spent many hours working in his shop at home on furniture and crafts. Many of these items were donated to churches and charities; his carpentry is evident throughout the church in Keezletown. As a cancer survivor he shared his experiences with others and supported them in their battles and gave them hope. He loved his church, his family and friends, and was known to be an avid golfer who never turned down an opportunity to golf at any course throughout Virginia.

On May 8, 1954, he married Nancy Lee Armentrout who survives, along with their children, Carla Newman and husband, Jeff and Wade Luther Armentrout and wife, Kathy Vance Armentrout; grandson, William Luther Armentrout and wife, Allison- Marie Patch Armentrout; sister in law, Barbara Smith; brother, Kennis Armentrout; sister, Joyce Allman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 11am at the Keezletown United Methodist Church, the Reverend Joel Robinette will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Keezletown United Methodist Church at 1456 Indian Trail Rd. Keezletown, VA., 22832 and Cat’s Cradle at 124 S. Main St, Harrisonburg, VA., 22801.
