Our inspiring and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Lori Dell O'Dell returned to her Heavenly Father on Monday, March 14 2016, at age 61. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family and close friends after a courageous 5 yr battle with cancer, in which she fought until the very end.

Lori was born August 31, 1954 to Raymond H. Adams and Beverly Thurgood in Ogden, Utah. Lori graduated from Ben Lomond High School and LDS Seminary. She was the second oldest of 5 children, all still living, Julie (Jim) Burkdoll, Greg (Debbie) Adams, Gary Adams, Glen (Sydne-deceased, cancer) Adams.

Lori married Ken C Brewer, they had one son Shawn Robert Brewer. They were later divorced. She then married Edward L Heninger, they were later divorced. She married Kim D. O'Dell on June 24, 2000. She was sealed to her "sweetie" in the Bountiful Utah Temple for time and all eternity on November 29, 2003.

Lori worked for Southern Pacific Railroad, Weber State University, McKay Dee Hospital, and for the past 25 years touching lives forever at Big "D" Construction as head of the HR Dept. where she will great greatly missed by all those whom she worked with. She had the blessing of working side by side with her sweetheart, Kim each day. They loved commuting together and working together every day. She has spent most of her life in Ogden, Utah and the past 16 years with Kim starting their lives together in Syracuse, Utah.

Lori was a member of the LDS church. She loved the Gospel so much and served as the Relief Society President, Young Women’s Camp Director, Young Women’s Presidency, served in the nursery, but her favorite calling was the one she held when she passed away serving as the Sunbeams Teacher. She always talked about how much she loved those kids and how happy their smiles made her. Lori and Kim tried to visit the Temple at least once a week every Saturday. She loved to serve her Heavenly Father.

Lori loved butterflies, moose and owls. Her favorite color was blue and that explains why she loved going outside under the clear blue skies, riding bikes, taking walks and going to the cabin with her sweetie. She had a special place in her heart for her family whether they were her own family or her step families it never mattered to her. She said it was an honor to help support her Grandson Elder Austin Brewer on his current LDS mission. She always thought of others before herself. She had a special place in her heart and built a special relationship with her granddaughter Shawnee Loree Brewer whom is named after her, Shawnee has often said Grandma Lori is her very best friend. She always said her greatest blessings were her family. She always said "Be grateful for all things" and no matter what life dealt her she always was.

Lori is survived by her eternal sweetheart Kim O’Dell, her son Shawn (Diana) Brewer, step-children Jason (Malinda) O’Dell, Brad (Kristin) O’Dell, Kristi O’Dell, Kami (Riley) Robinson, Annette Heninger, Angela (Kurt) Genge, Uncle Dell (Bonnie) Adams, Art (Rosalie) Adams, 14 nieces and nephews, 4 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Raymond and Sarah Adams, Don Thurgood and Algie Herbert Thurgood, step-mothers Glenna O’Dell and Elsie Adams and sister-in-l aw Sydne Adams.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Grays office and all the Nurses that cared for her and became close friends at Utah Hematology/Oncology, To Gama West Cancer Services for their service and After Hour holiday treatments. To IHC hospice for her comfort during her last days. We say thanks to those special friends that would stay with mom when errands had to be ran. Mom wanted to personally say thank you to one very special nurse that always cared for her as her own mom, who always gave that care that could never be topped even as she was struggling through this herself with mom, mom requested that Diana, her Daughter in law be told how much she enjoyed her treating her and how much she loves her. Thank you Diana.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Susan G Komen Stage IV/ Metastatic breast cancer research fund in Lori O'Dell’s behalf. She always wanted to help those suffering before herself. www.info-komen.org/‎
