Samuel Joe Nelson was the son of Joe Bethel Nelson and Gladys Martha Jane Scofield. Sam began his construction career working with his father in Carmel and Indianapolis, Indiana while he was still attending high school. He moved to Florida from Indiana in 1981 and began working a few years later for the schools in Fort Lauderdale as a contractor. He retired a few years ago.
Samuel Joe Nelson first married Elizabeth L. "Beth" Abrams on June 5, 1971 in Indianapolis, Indiana. One daughter, Heather Elaine Nelson who was born March 20, 1972. He married second to Kathleen Joy Krysiak about 1990 in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida. To this union was born one son, who died in infancy, and one daughter, Jenna Patricia Nelson born May 22, 1991.
Besides the two daughter, Sam is survived by two sisters, Cheryl Lee Nelson of Newburgh, Indiana and Marte Nelson Daves of Winslow, Indiana, as well as 8 nieces and nephews and several cousins, as well as many friends who will all mourn his loss.
