Verla Nye Parker (Armatage) our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother passes away March 12, 2016 at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho.

Verla was born in Paris, Idaho to James Vivian and Lula May Nye on February 24, 1928.

She really enjoyed being raised on the family farm. She loved riding the horses especially on her favorite called "Paint".

She graduated from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho.

She married Ronald Armatage on June 23, 1953. Several years after the death of Ronald, Verla married Freddie A. Parker on May 9, 1967. They were married until the time of his death.

She loved to bowl and play golf. During one round of golf she hit a hole in one! Thank you to all of the golf pros for taking care of mom and her golf cart over the years.

She loved to make blankets. She would always have a blanket or a toy for the grandkids, or great-grandkids when they came to visit. If you helped her with something she would bring you a blanket she crocheted on or homemade jam or crocheted dish rag.

Mom was an avid Utah Jazz basketball fan and would keep track of the score, not trusting the scorekeepers to do it. She and Freddie would yell at the TV when the team made a stupid play.

She is survived by Don Nye, brother, Marlene Humpherys and Linda Nye, sisters. Also, her children Steven Armatage (Arlene), Kevin Armatage (Karen), and Rhonda Gambling (John), 11 grandchildren: Jenifer Gambling, Andrea Wells, Jessica Swope, Chris Gambling, Krista Turner, Amilia Thomas, Kyle Armatage, Sam Armatage, Ben Armatage, Sarah Armatage, and Ethan Armatage and her 16 great-grandchildren: Cody, Tate, Hayley, Tyler, Hayden, Katie, Shylice, Trevin, Kylie, Maddisyn, Greyson, Annistyn, Mabel, Graden, Lorelia and Logan.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bear Lake County Golf Course in Montpelier or American Heart Association.

We offer thanks to all those involved in her care at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital and Portneuf Medical Center.

Services will be held at the 1st and 4th Ward chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Montpelier, on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing before from 9:30 - 10:35 a.m.

Following the services the interment will be at the Montpelier Cemetery.
