Centenarian Dies; Grandmother Of Mrs. R. W. Wright
Mrs. Sarah C. Wysong, who gained considerable notoriety in October when she celebrated her 100th birthday, died Friday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Daisy Hanshew, in Johnsville. The elderly woman's anniversary claimed much interest here because she was the grandmother of Mrs Richard W. Wright of this village.
Funeral rites for the centenarian were held Sunday afternoon at the Plain View Open Bible church one and a half miles north of Johnsville on the Brookville Johnsville road and were followed by burial in the cemetery at Pyrmont.
Mrs.. Wysong had enjoyed fairly good health up to a day or two before she expired. She was not quite as vigorous as usual, however, on the day she reached her centennary. She was widely known in her community for her church work and her neighborliness.
She was born in Clayton and was the widow of Aaron Wysong, who died in 1927. Besides the daughter with whom she lived, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Bertha Wogoman of West Alexandria; three sons, John and Harrison of New Lebanon and Orville I. Wysong of Brookville; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. The Brookville son, Orville I., is the father of Mrs. Wright.
