Clara Hawkins was born in Coalville, Summitt Co. Utah to Crayton Leroy Hawkins Sr. & Margaret Amelia (Stallings) Hawkins. Her mother Amelia passed away in Utah at a early age with 3 of their other children.(Smallpox) Leaving Clara & her brother Crayton Leroy Hawkins Jr.
She married Lewis H. Sweetser in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1902. They Ranched in Idaho & Lewis was Lt. Governor of Idaho from 19o9 to 1912. They spent their winters in Whittier, CA. & Summer on the Sweetser Ranch in Burley, Cassia Co. Idaho.
