Betty Sue Hillier was born on December 2, 1930, in Longview, Texas and passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016. She was the only daughter and oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin (Hazel) Hillier. She was raised in Longview and attended Longview public school, graduating as a Judson Blue Devil in May of 1948.
Following her graduation from high school, Betty Sue began what would become a lifelong career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Betty began working as a telephone operator during the time when you actually had to be connected with someone to complete your long distance telephone calls. Betty Sue moved up in the company and held other various positions, finally retiring in 1988 with 38 years of faithful service.

After retirement, Betty became active as a “Pink Lady” working as a volunteer for Good Shepherd Medical Center. In addition, her retirement years were spent in various church groups and her beloved water aerobics. Betty Sue enjoyed many hours of playing games with her ladies from church – in fact, they became known as the “Fun Bunch”. Betty Sue was loved everywhere she went and as a result many lifelong friends were made along the way and those friends remained with her until the very end.
