JENNIE ANNE BENIGAS

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP – There will be services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for Jennie Anne Benigas, 62, who passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016, in Youngstown, after a long and valiant battle with ovarian cancer.

Jennie was born in Buffalo, N.Y., a daughter of Norbert and Josephine Ferrara Schifferle.

She will be sadly missed by her family, her husband, David, whom she was married to for 27 years; her sister, Judith Ferrara and her husband, John Gaumond, of Worcester, Mass.; and her brothers, Norbert and his wife, Linda Schifferle, of Amherst, N.Y. and James Schifferle of Los Angeles. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Schifferle of Tonawanda, N.Y. and Patricia and her husband, Donald Adams, of Liberty; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Albert Schifferle.

Jennie and her husband moved from the Washington, D.C. area to Youngstown in 1995. She worked for 15 years at the Cafaro Corporation in the construction department. She enjoyed gardening, trying out new recipes, and entertaining family and friends. She will be remembered for her intelligence, beauty, humor, compassion and generosity.

She served on the committee to initiate Joanie’s Sisters Support Group for Breast and Ovarian Cancer Survivors, as well as volunteering at The Yellow Brick Place Cancer Center in Youngstown.

Jennie wished to acknowledge the loving care that she received from Dr. Esther Rehmus and Kim Hyman of Akron General Hospital and the nurses at the McDowell Cancer Center. Jennie and her family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bruce Willner, the nurses and the staff at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center and MVI Hospice Care.

There will be calling hours on Monday, March 14, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 15, 2016, one hour prior to service, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Jennie will be laid to rest at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
