Mr. Howard Treat, of Twin Hills, OK, passed away Thursday, March 10 at 8:38 a.m. after a brief illness and hospital stay at St. Francis in Tulsa. Mr. Treat is proceeded in death by parents Silas and Mattie Treat, his brothers, Herman, Ralph, Jim and Don and his sisters, Bessie, Pauline, Gearldine, Ernestine. Howard accomplished many great things in his life, some of which were:
• Founding member of the Preston Rural Water District
• Receiving the Okmulgee County Farm Family the Year award, alongside his wife, for the Effort in Land and Wildlife Conservation
• Avid coon hunter and founding member of the Snake Creek Coon Hunters Assoc.
• Independent oil Producer and Rancher
• Served as a personal chauffeur to President Hoover during his residence at Stanford California (what is now Stanford University)
Howard's greatest, and least talked about, accomplishment, however, was his service in the U.S. Armed Air Corp, during WWII. Detailed in the C.I.D., Military Police and served with honor in the European Theater. Howard enjoyed many outdoor activities on his property including raising cattle, llamas, dogs, cats and horses. He loved taking friends and family to the pond to fish or just for a drive up on the hill. He will be missed by many and forgotten by none. A funeral service for Howard will be held at Twin Hills School Activity Center on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jerry Fielder officiating. Interment will follow in Morris Cemetery.
