Richard W. "Dick" Barefoot, 85, Duncansville, passed away Tuesday morning at his home.
He was born in Newry, son of the late George and Edythe (Duganne) Barefoot. On Dec. 18, 1954, he married Vera J. Cannarsa at First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years; three daughters: Elizabeth (Betsy) Barefoot of Alexandria, Va., Cathy Barefoot of Cape Charles, Va., and Amy Barefoot and husband, Raymond Murphy, of Richmond, Va.; two sons: Richard "Rick" and wife, Jennifer, of Duncansville and Michael and wife, Celine, of Wilmington, N.C.; nine grandchildren: Sarah, Andrew, Colin, Nicolas, Quinn, Aidan, Ethan, Evan and Clare; and a brother, N. Fred Barefoot of Hollidaysburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nila Capaccio.
Dick was a 1949 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, and he graduated from Juniata College in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. He retired as owner of Barefoot Sanitary Service and R.W. Barefoot Co., both of Duncansville.
He was a charter member of Iron Master's Country Club, a member of Blair Racquet Club, Jaycees and Kiwanis Club. He was also a PIAA and YMCA swimming official for more than 40 years, and he loved his pet dog, Jake.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or funeral service. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.
Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Home Nursing Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.
