Ada Mae Alsip, 86, a lifelong Silverdale resident, died Saturday (March 5, 2016) in Silverdale. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday (March 10, 2016) at the Silverdale Community Church, burial will follow in the Silverdale Cemetery. Pastor Don Goatley will officiate.
The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Ada was born May 25, 1929, in Silverdale to Henry and Mae (Lumley) Goatley. She was reared and educated in Silverdale attending Silverdale School. She married Max Alsip on July 9, 1946, at the First Assembly of God Church in Arkansas City. Ada worked alongside her mother as telephone operator in Silverdale before her marriage and after for a couple of the neighborhood grocery stores and the post office, but her favorite work was as a homemaker and wife for Max and their daughter Connie.
Survivors include her husband Max of the home; son-in-law Terry (Dana) Willoughby; grandchildren Stacy Willoughby and companion Mark Claytor of Silverdale, Jason “Jake” and wife Betsy Willoughby of Big Springs, Texas; four great-grandchildren Max Willoughby, David Jeter, Emily Collins and Hannah Willoughby; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Connie Willoughby , brothers Ellis, Leo and Ben Goatley and two infant sisters.
Memorials have been established with the Silverdale Community Church or the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
