Marion Boyd, 87, formerly of 531 Vermont Ave. and the Regency at South Shore, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002.

She was born July 14, 1915, in Erie, daughter of the late Hubert F. and Elsie Beyers Boyd. She formerly lived in New York City, then returned to Erie in 1977.

She operated an accounting office in Erie. She formerly worked for First National Bank in Erie and as an investment counselor in New York.

She graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1932. She attended Miami (Ohio) University and Mercyhurst College, then received her degree from Bernard Baruch College in New York.

She served with the Democratic Party at New York's Gramercy Park. She was elected to the Democratic committee for the 4th Ward of Erie three times and also served as chairwoman for a term. She served with the American Red Cross during World War II and was assigned duty in Guam and Italy. She was also a member of the Woman's Club of Erie and the Vasa Order of America.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Boyd; two brothers, John and William Boyd; and a sister, Ann Boyd Condon.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Boyd Feurtado of Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Gerald "Jerry" Boyd and his wife, Marjorie, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two granddaughters, Ann and Rachael Feurtado; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be private at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
