The deceased enlisted in the Navy in May, this year, and was serving with ability until he was stricken with pneumonia. He was a member of Naval Battalion K-1643. He leaves his father C.S. New, and several brothers and sisters of this city, besides a host of friends. He was 22 years of age.
The Dublin Guards turned out in uniform as an escort of honor, and the customary salute, followed by taps, was given at the grave. Interment took place in Northview cemetery. October 15, 1918, Macon Telegraph
