Gloria Gaffney, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born November 8, 1942 in Springfield, the daughter of Joseph and Goldie Warren Durako.

Gloria was a graduate of Lanphier High School and worked as a receptionist at Dr. Carter Hagberg Dental. Prior to that, she was a receptionist at SIU. She most recently attended St. Agnes Catholic Church. Gloria never met a stranger. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, and loved fishing, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and husbands, Ronald James Alwerdt and Joseph B. Gaffney.

She is survived by the love of her life of the past 32 years, Carter Hagberg of Springfield; one son, Kent (wife, Elizabeth) Gaffney of Lake Barrington; one daughter, Renee (husband, Tony) Mangiaracina of Sherman; six grandchildren, Michael (wife, Erica) Gaffney, Nicole, Anthony and Mark Mangiaracina, Adam and Alexander Gaffney; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia (husband, Mickey) Montgomery of Springfield; and one niece and one nephew.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield, with Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant.
