She was 81 years old.
Mrs. Duerkes was born and raised in Belmar. She lived most of life in Point Pleasant Beach before moving to Brick five years ago. Ida is a graduate of St. Rose High School and a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Ida was special in everyone's heart, loved by all and will be forever missed. Ida touched the hearts of all she met.
Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, Henry W. Duerkes; her children, Jim Duerkes, Scotsdale, Ariz., John Duerkes, Brick, Jane Satterly, Brick, Judy Thomas, Toms River, Jerry Duerkes, Brick, Jenny Gray, Manasquan, and Jeff Duerkes, Phoenix, Ariz; brothers and sisters, Bill Carver, Belmar, Joe and Margaret Carver, Lakewood, Agnes Lauterwasser, Howell, and Gertrude Satterfield, Spring Lake Heights; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be offered tomorrow at 9 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Brick. Interment will follow 11:30 a.m. in the Brig. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. Visiting will be today from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 200 Middlesex Turnpike, Middlesex, N.J. 08830.
