Son of the late John D. and Nellie Maude Lundy Barnhart. He was a member of the Mount Nebo Church of Christ, was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II and he was a farmer. He liked gardening and hunting.

He is survived by two sons, Henry Barnhart and Harold Barnhart; one daughter, Phyllis Harbert; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ada Hartman and Sybil Barkus; one brother, Ernest Barnhart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Elizabeth Barnhart, and three sisters, Elizabeth Miller, Marie Barnhart and Mabel Powell.
