Geraldine Cough Lurry, 94, of Erwinville, LA, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 2, 2016.
Mrs. Lurry was born on the first day of Spring, March 21, 1921 in Sikes, LA, to the union of John A. Gough and Nancy “Nanny” Newson Gough.
Geraldine was blessed with a special love when she met and married her soulmate of 63 years, before he passed in 2004, Mr. Leslie Laughlin Lurry, Jr. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Lurry was preceded in death by her sister, Melba Gough Harris and her two brothers, Paul Gough and Audrey Gough.
Geraldine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved her family, church, community and friends and served them all faithfully throughout her lifetime. She was a wonderful housekeeper, she enjoyed cooking for others and she always looked forward to the flowers blooming each Spring. Mrs. Lurry was a devout Christian woman and lifelong member of Erwinville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Lurry Major and husband William; 2 sons, Johnny Lurry, Sr. and wife Pam and Leslie “Butch” Lurry; grandchildren, Angie Major Lachie and husband Jamie, Rebecca Major Collins and husband Sean, John Lurry, Jr. and wife Tonya, Lisa Lurry Jepko and husband James; great grandchildren, Noelle Lachie, Andrew Lachie, Raven Collins, Gage Collins, Blakeley Lurry, Kennedy Lurry and Layne Lurry.
A celebration of life for Geraldine Lurry will begin with visiting at Erwinville Baptist Church, in Erwinville, on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of religious service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. Tyler Saucier. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
