Mrs. Stivers was born at Lake City, Colorado and moved to Montrose shortly thereafter where her childhood was spent. She accompanied her father, the Honorable John C. Bell, and mother, Susan Elizabeth Abernathy Bell, to Washington, D. C. where he was a member of Congress for some 16 years, and her schooling was obtained there.

On November 20, 1912, she was married at Montrose to John L. Stivers.

Several years ago, the Stivers moved to Denver and Mr. Stivers succumbed in that city. Mrs. Stivers continued to reside there until August 1964 when she went to Santa Monica to be with her daughter, Mrs. R. S. (Betty) Farr.

She was a member of the Congregational Church and the PEO Sisterhood. At one time, she was a teacher in the Montrose County High School.

A son, John Bell Stivers, preceded Mrs. Stivers in death, as did her husband.

Private services will be held in Santa Monica on March 6 with cremation following. A memorial service will be held March 13 at Fairmont Chapel in Denver.
