He was born in rural Washington County on May 15, 1929 to Clarence and Ethel Augustine Hotle.
Hal graduated from West Chester High School and married Winifred “Ruth” Telford on June 3, 1950 in Kremlin Oklahoma. They were married for 64 wonderful years when Ruth went to meet her maker in 2014.
Hal served in the US Airforce for 4 years during the Korean War and was stationed for the most part at Breize Norton airbase in England along with Ruth.
He was a heavy equipment operator and had many varied work adventures in his life path, being well known as a real estate broker, home builder and developer in Washington, IA. He also had a great interest in trees, operated a nursery and a large truck mounted tree mover.
There was a time that Hal and Ruth’s adventures led them to live in Arkansas, Florida, Missouri and Alabama. Along the way they realized that their love for Iowa was overwhelming and they moved back for good in the 1980’s where the enjoyed the rest of their lives.
Hal is survived by four sons, Tim (Nancy) of Marietta, GA, Barry (Julie Williams) of Keosauqua, Eric (Lynn) of Toccoa, GA and Robin (Thuy) of Dacula, GA, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will at 10:00 A.M. Saturday March 5, 2016 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Visitation with family present will be from 9-10 A.M. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Military Honors by Beer-Bark Post 113 American Legion, Keosauqua. Burial will be in West Chester Cemetery, West Chester.
