Marjorie (Marge) Marie Wood Steinhaus Swarm, 78 of Parma, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at a Nampa care facility. Memorial services will be held at the Dakan Funeral Chapel in Parma on December 30th at 1:00 p.m. followed with a gathering at the Parma Senior Center. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Parma Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com

Marjorie was born June 17, 1935 in Roberts, Jefferson County, Idaho, the daughter of Loyal George (McFarland) Wood and Mary Edith Massengale Wood. Following the death of her mother in 1939, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Rachel Grace Massengale Peyton and Joseph Walter Curtis Peyton. In 1945, they moved to Ontario, Oregon where Marjorie was reared and educated, graduating from Ontario High School on May 22, 1953.

She married Dean Lewis Steinhaus on August 21, 1953 having two daughters and one son. They divorced on October 3, 1968. Marge married Alvin Truman Swarm on June 27, 1969 and had one son. She and Alvin resided in Parma, where they raised their family. She worked for many years with Robert Romanko at the U of I Extension Center in Parma and at the Roswell Elementary School lunch program. Following Alvin’s retirement, they volunteered a lot of time and talent to the Parma Senior Citizens Center, the CCOA, and their neighbors. Marge loved spending time with her family and was always there to attend any event. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing and was as an avid baseball fan watching MLB on television.

Marge is survived by her sister, Ruby Ellen Wood Linhores; 2 sons, Richard ‘Ric’ Lewis Steinhaus, Gerald ‘Jerry’ (Pam) Alvin Swarm, Jr.; daughter, Sandra Kay (Vern) Lee; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parent’s; husband, Alvin; daughter, Bianca Marie Steinhaus Fullerton; and 3 brothers, Eugene Loyal Wood, Earl Wood, and Dearld Lee Wood.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Parma Area Senior Center, 410 N 8th, Parma, ID 83660
