George Dillon father of Mrs. Charles Sherman of this place died at the home of his son William near Fowlerville on Saturday May 31st aged seventy eight years. Mr Dillon was born in Belfast Ireland. He is survived by four sons and five daughters.
George was living in Avon by 1860 and registered for the Civil War draft along with his brothers John and James in June of 1863.
He is listed on a grave marker in Pleasant Valley Cemetery with his wife Ellen Clifford Dillon, but there is no death date inscribed, so he may not actually be there.
The children who survived him, as taken from his wife's obituary, are sons James of North Dakota, George of Linwood, William of Fowlerville, and Frank of Pavilion and daughters Mary Tillotson of Rochester, Mrs. Agnes Parrish of Clyde, Mrs. Charles Sherman of Livonia, Mrs. Lizzie Currie of Fowlerville, and Mrs. Fred Morgan of Pavilion.
